A Girl In Need

Dear World. Actually, maybe that's a bit dramatic.

I am asking you to help me. There are a couple of things on my wish list, and have been for a while, bus as i'm currently on a budget I need a hand finding these things on the first try. I figured if there was one place I could turn to, it was the beauty blogger community!

So, to my wish list.

1) I am really lusting after a pale peach nail polish, think Blair Waldorf classic.

2) A new liquid foundation, and by liquid I mean full on liquid with a very thin, watery texture and natural looking finish. Preferably more coverage than a tinted moisturiser though. I'm very fussy, aren't I.

3) And lastly, a deep coral lip gloss, almost orange but slightly darker. Preferably more pigment than gloop, but i'm not too fussy when it comes to lip products!

I hope that one of you lovely people can help me out here, I would really appreciate it!

Lots of love,
Hayley

2014 - 2015

I am going to be completely honest here. I really don't enjoy New Years. The whole idea of a 'new year, new me' really winds me up because honestly, how much can you change?!

But then I realised that in 2014 I changed quite a lot. I decided to reach for my dream job as a make up artist, & quit my not so dream job to achieve success (not quite there yet, but I'm sure I will some day soon) which is 100% not something I would do. I mean, for a girl who has zilcho self confidence to pursue a dream that is not completely financially secure, who am I anymore? Luckily, I passed the assessment, my coursework was successful & everything is going pretty well. Hopefully soon I can start handing out my beautiful business cards with confidence that I can do anything with my tools & bring confidence & happiness to other ladies, or men, who ever really!

Which brings me on to my next point, Youtube. I decided this year to start creating videos for the internet, prominently make-up videos, which people might actually see. I have never been so far out of my comfort zone in my entire life & all I was doing was sitting in my bedroom, talking to a camera about my favourite eyebrow pencil & body lotion. Normally I feel uncomfortable in big social situations, like walking into a pub, club or bar, not sat on my bed with the door closed & nobody else around. My first one was just a '50 Facts About Me' video, telling the world what I liked & disliked, but it was the biggest rush when I started to edit it & actually liked what I saw. This was the best, most confident version of myself, & I loved it. Uploading it to the internet was terrifying, but when it hit 100 views (not much I know, but still a small milestone for me) it felt like I had just finished a marathon, except I wasn't out of breath or at all sweaty. So even if sometimes I don't feel up to filming a video, I will continue to do it when I fancy, & when I WANT to.

Obviously, there have been things that I have succeeded a lot less at, I am no fitter now than I was at the start of the year. I have no more friends now than I had in January & this blog hasn't received a post a week like I really wanted it too. But it's hard to put things out there when they have been forced, & sometimes I just don't feel inspired enough to put words to paper (or words to keyboard, should I say?), but at least I am trying & that's pretty good I think.

So, I am going to end this long & rambling post with 3 more 'resolutions' (damn I hate that word), which I am going to TRY to achieve. And yes, trying your hardest is enough.

1) Reach my 2015 reading target of 35 books! It's not 50, but I would be chuffed if I hit that!
2) Travel more, if money allows! Even going to a few more cities in the UK would do.
3) Be more confident. This is a pretty general one, but I want to be more confident about myself & my abilities. I CAN do things! And I need to remember it more often.

Also, the usual apply, get fitter, eat healthier, become totally sexy but they don't count as 'resolutions' (eugh!), because by the beginning of 2016 I will have consumed within the last month or two approximately 100 cocktail sausages, three tins of celebrations & 2 gammon joints with all of the trimmings, & I will not purposely bring myself down because I have enjoyed my christmas, a little more than I should have!

So, what did you do in 2014 that you are proud of? I would really like to know (and don't try & tell me that there's nothing, because you have & I know it!)

Lots of Love,
Hayley!

The 'Do I Look Like Kylie Yet?' Drugstore Duo

Hello loves!

The other day I was having a fumble around boots, and discovered this fabulous duo in the aisles. I've been looking for my dream 'browny nude' for a while now, and didn't want to spend much on the trend, so I am over the moon that I have found this pair & thought you might want to know my findings too!

And drum roll please.......................

It is the Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lip Liner in Tiriamisu & the Seventeen Stay Pout Lipstick in Just A Fling which create the perfect Kylie combo! The middle ground between brown and pink, a lovely velvety finish and not a speck of glitter or shine in sight.

The best part about this duo is the fact that together they cost under £7.50! That's half of what you would pay for a single MAC lipstick, which I think is crazy considering how great these products are.

Do you have any drugstore lips product recommendations for me?

Lots of love,
Hayley

My Halloween Make Up Look!

Good Morning! I hope you're all having a lovely weekend so far.

Yesterday I posted a video on my youtube channel about my halloween costume! Now, normally I don't do halloween, at all, but it was one of my good friends birthday party/halloween party so I decided to put in some effort!

I went as a porcelain doll (cracked for a creepy effect!) and I had a great time doing it. I may be swayed by this whole dressing up thing!

There is a list of all the products I used in the description of the video!

Check it out if you'd like you see how I did it!

What did you do for halloween? I'd love to see your costume!

Lots of love,
Hayley

My First My Little Box!

Today the postman brought me a little treat and I thought I would share it with you, because it is just plain charming! I received my first beauty box from the company My Little Paris. The subscription service is called My Little Box, which I think is just so cute! If you have never heard of this company before then you should definitely check them out here.

This months box was a special edition, created in collaboration with the designer Diane Von Furstenburg, and I absolutely adore it. Inside I received a scarf in one of the specially chosen DVF prints (which is truly stunning!), a lip-shaped brooch (the lips are the brands logo), a very cute illustration of the lady herself, the magazine which I can't wait to read through and 3 beauty products.

The first beauty products I received in the box the Kerastase K Laque Noire. It is described as an 'anti-humidity super shield fixing hairspray' with extra strong hold. I'm going out for a friends birthday this coming weekend and shall give this its first trial then! I'll report back

The next one is a L'Occitane Hand Cream in the scent Vanilla Bouquet. L'Occitane hand creams are some of the best, thick and nourishing but don't linger on your paws for too long. This is a super handy travel size sample, so it will be a perfect addition to my handbag. The smell is lovely, you wouldn't think vanilla and flowers would be a pleasant combination of scents but it truly is one of those 'sniffing your hands all day' kind of smells.

I also received the My Little Beauty Micellar Cleansing Water, which is from the companies own beauty brand. I am excited to give this a try as a use micellar waters quite often. Also, how cute is the packaging! It kind of smells like green tea too, and you know how I feel about tea!

All in all I am chuffed with this box, and cannot wait for next month to roll around so I can get another!

Are you subscribed to any beauty subscription boxes? Let me know!

Lots of love,
Hayley

Beauty Wishlist #1

In the months leading up to Christmas (and my birthday!), I often find lusting after a bunch of products that I would love to have in my stash. So today I thought I would share a few with you, because it's fun to dream, right?

I blame Lisa Eldridge entirely for this one! This is a small concealer palette, with two shades of a thick creamy concealer which you can personally mix and match to suit every area of your face. It's ingenious! And from what i've seen, it's pretty long lasting too, just set with a translucent powder after application and you're good to go all day. Perfect to use on those pesky spots and areas of discolouration.

This is just a gorgeous shade, and the packaging is to die for! I haven't tried a lipstick from Nars before and I think this would be a nice place to start.

Serious heart-eyed emoji on this one! If you didn't already know, I am currently training to become a professional Make Up Artist and this just ticks every box for me. You would never be without out brow colour for anyone ever again! No more struggling with too warm pencil shades, or splurging £15 per matte eyeshadow. This works out at £4.09 per shade, and that's not including the brow primer which you get in there too.

I would love to try this and see if it lives up to the hype it gets! It would be such a luxury product to use a couple of times a week, and just a lovely treat.

This is just a very pretty palette that I have wanted to own for a while. I am especially drawn to the shades Kitten, Sunset and Luster.

So thats everything on the British market that I've been eyeing up recently! Maybe i'll make an American one next, because there is a lot of stuff I'm lusting after on the Sephora and Ulta websites too! Naughty me...

Lot's of love,
Hayley

I went to the beach!

This is just a couple of shots I took when I went to the beach at the beginning of August with my Dad and my doggie, Tess.

I just really wanted to share them with you, and also to have something to look at to remind me of the  quiet moments in life!

What is your quiet place? Mine is either my back garden, or anywhere near water like the sea or a lake. I love to just sit and listen to the sounds of the water moving!

Lots of love,
Hayley
